Before you can do anything with your money, it’s essential that you not only examine your current financial situation, but your history and story with money as well.
It’s important to have a holistic view of money and your relationship with it because you can know everything about budgeting, investing, and saving money, but if you have not done a deeper dive and reflection on how you view money and why, you will not be able to fully thrive and build the kind of wealth you may be looking to do with money.
Many people might think about how people overspend to overcompensate for an insecurity they have with money, which is part of it. But this can also lead to things like underselling yourself and leaving money on the table or even having an incredibly secure financial situation but still having a scarcity and survival mindset, which doesn’t allow you to truly be at peace.
Get used to looking at your finances regularly (no matter how scared you might be, lol).
Schedule weekly, monthly, or quarterly times to take a look at your banking & investment accounts, debts, bills, money goals, and taxes (if you run a business). Our Money Stories designates 4 types of Money Dates, and we think that if it works better for you to combine multiple into one, then go for it!
